Dublin, June 28th, 2021 – Réaltra Space Systems Engineering (A Division of Realtime Technologies Ltd.) is delighted to announce that we have received the Qualification Certification from ArianeGroup for the flight elements of the Independent HD Video Telemetry Kit (VIKI) for use on the Ariane 5 and Ariane 6 launch vehicles.  The VIKI system will capture and broadcast HD video from a number of cameras located on the launchers that will provide live images of the stage, fairing and payload separation events for commercial and engineering purposes.

The development of the VIKI system started in 2019 and the completion of qualification of the VIKI system in 2021 is a significant achievement for our team in Réaltra as an Irish space start-up company and demonstrates the benefits of collaboration with our partners across the island of Ireland and Europe that enabled us to complete the complex qualification tests throughout the challenging conditions imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic.

We also acknowledge the excellent test facilities and support provided in Germany and France emphasizing the importance of pan-European cooperation. Finally, we would like to recognise the assistance of the Irish ESA Delegation and Enterprise Ireland who have provided their support to Réaltra on this project from the beginning.

Réaltra Space Systems Engineering was established in 2018 to focus specifically on the growing global space market for high-quality and high-reliability electronic systems, targeting the commercial “New-Space” market, with a focus on the burgeoning global micro-launchers and small satellite sectors.

Réaltra already employs 10 highly qualified staff including experienced space practitioners to recent graduates of UCD’s Masters in Space Science & Technology. The company plans to employ more than 20 highly skilled people over the next few years.
Réaltra is the Irish word for “galaxy”, which is appropriate in the context of the company’s vision of creating innovative low-cost electronic systems for space applications. The Réaltra division was formed in January 2018 by Paddy White (CEO), Diarmuid Corry (CTO) and Danny Gleeson (CCO), each with long experience in the space sector. Realtime Technologies is a member of the Irish Space Industry Group and a founder member of the Space Industry Skillnet.
